Materials Required:

  • Centro Knitting Machine (48 pin).
  • Yarn: Mandala Bonus Bundle yarn, lightweight size 3, preferably in the "Meow" colorway.
  • Quantity: 1,181 yards or 1,080 meters, 10.5 oz or 300g.

Machine Setup:

  • Ensure your machine is clean and functioning.
  • Set the machine to the tube setting.
  • Reset the row counter to zero.

Start with Waste Yarn:

  • Begin by casting on with waste yarn to create clean, crisp edges.
  • Loop the waste yarn under the first pin and through the following ones alternately around the machine.
  • Knit 9-10 rows of waste yarn (fewer rows are also fine, minimum 5-6).

Switch to Main Yarn:

  • After the initial rows of waste yarn, tie off the waste yarn and hook the main yarn through the yarn feeder.
  • Set the machine tension to the maximum to maintain tight stitches.
  • Knit 150 rows for the tube part of the scarf. Keep an eye on the row counter.

Monitoring Progress:

  • Check the fabric formation regularly to ensure that the yarn tension is tight enough to prevent holes but loose enough to allow some stretch.
  • Watch the color transitions, if using a variegated yarn like "Meow."

Finishing with Waste Yarn:

  • After completing the desired number of rows, cut the main yarn.
  • Attach waste yarn again and knit another 9-10 rows for a clean finish.
  • Gently remove the knitted tube from the machine, ensuring all stitches are secured.

Post-Knitting:

Cast Off:

  • Seam the waste yarn rows and remove them, tidying up the edges.
  • Use a crochet hook or a needle to weave in any loose ends securely.

Constructing the Scarf and Hood:

  • Depending on the length and width of your tubes, arrange them to form a hood at one end and a long trailing scarf.
  • Sew the pieces together carefully to form the hooded scarf.

Finishing Touches:

  • Wash and block the scarf to soften the yarn and even out any irregularities.
  • Make any final adjustments to ensure symmetry and comfort.

Additional Tips:

  • Prior Experience: It's advised that you have basic knowledge of how to operate the central knitting machine, especially for casting on and off with waste yarn.
  • Online Resources: If unclear, review supplemental tutorials online specific to your model of the knitting machine.
