Crochet Tsireya Top
Materials Needed:
- yarn
- crochet hook of size as you wish
Start the Cups:
- Make a slip knot and chain five.
- On the first chain, work double crochet, chain one, and another double crochet. This creates the first row of the cup.
Second Row:
- Chain two, flip your work.
- V-stitch on the chain-one space. To make a V-stitch, do a double crochet, chain one, and then double crochet in the same stitch/space.
- Front post double crochet on the stitch.
- Another V-stitch on the next chain-one space.
- Finish the row with a double crochet in the second chain from the previous row.
Third Row:
- Chain two, flip your work.
- Make a shell on the first chain-one space (shell is two double crochet, chain one, two double crochet in the same space).
- Back post double crochet.
- Shell on the last chain-one space.
- Finish with a double crochet in the second chain from the previous row.
Fourth Row:
- Chain two, flip your work.
- Shell on chain-one space.
- Front post V-stitch on the post.
- Shell on the last chain-one space.
- Complete with a double crochet on the chain-two space.
Fifth Row:
- Chain two, flip your work.
- Start with a shell on the first chain-one space.
- Back post double crochet, V-stitch in the chain-one space, and then another back post double crochet on the next post.
- Shell on the last chain-one space.
- Finish with a double crochet on the chain-two space from the previous row.
Row Six Onwards:
- Continue to alternate the pattern of shells and post stitches (front post for even rows, back post for odd rows), incorporating V-stitches and front/back post V-stitches as described in the pattern.
Repeat Rows:
- Repeat the pattern from row 11 to 14 for larger sizes until the cup length stretches a quarter of your bust circumference.
- Make sure you end on an even row.
- Make two cups and don't cut the yarn on the second one as you will join the cups.
Joining the Cups:
- Start joining the cups from row one as described, making sure to work a front post double crochet on both chain-two corners of the cups to join them together.
Continuing the Body:
- Continue the pattern for the body, alternating rows of shell and post stitches as established until the length wraps around your torso, ending with an odd row.
Edging and Straps:
- Work a single crochet edging all the way around the top, adjusting where necessary around cups and joining seams.
- For the shell edging at the bottom, single crochet and half double crochet in the first stitch, then work your shell pattern (two double crochet, chain one, two double crochet) in the chain-one spaces and continue across.
- For the straps, chain at least 50 cm or longer for larger sizes, slip stitch in each chain all the way back, and then connect the straps to the opposite corners of the top.
- Secure the yarn with a slip stitch upon completion.
