Materials And Tools Required:

  • Good quality yarn suitable for sweaters
  • Knitting needles size 4 or 5
  • Stitch markers (optional, for marking increases and pattern repeats)

Abbreviations:

  • CO: Cast On
  • K: Knit
  • P: Purl
  • Inc: Increase
  • Rep: Repeat
  • st(s): Stitch(es)
  • BO: Bind Off

Knitting Instructions:

Save

Starting the Border:

  • CO 108 sts.
  • K 1 row, P 1 row.
  • Rep steps 2 and 3 until the border reaches the desired height.

Increasing for Body:

  • In the next row, Inc 7 sts evenly across.

Main Pattern Setup:

Save

  • K 1 row, P 1 row.
  • Now work the stitch count as 8 repeats of 8 sts plus 3 sts.

Pattern Creation:

  • K 3, slip 5 sts.
  • K 3 sts.
  • Rep steps 9-11 until 8 pattern repeats are completed.

Secondary Pattern Creation:

  • K 2 sts, pick up the dropped sts from the previous row.
  • K 3.
  • Rep steps 13-15 until 8 repeats are done.

Save

Finishing the Length:

  • K 1 row, P 1 row.
  • Rep steps 17 and 18 until the sweater reaches desired length.

Casting Off:

  • BO all sts.
