To Start:

Make a slip knot, chain 4, then slip stitch into the first stitch to form a loop.

Round 1: Creating a Split Square:

Make 2 double crochet into the loop from the starting chain.
Chain 2.
Make another set of 3 double crochet into the loop, then chain 1 with your green yarn (or your first color).
Introduce your second color yarn, make a chain with the new color.
Make 3 double crochet, chain 2, and another 3 double crochet, then chain 2 again to complete the round.
Slip stitch into the top stitch of the first double crochet (not the chain 3).
