Materials Needed:

  • Woolies Thick and Quick Size 6 Super Bulky Yarn (~106 yards, Peanut color)
  • Size K (6.5 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Blunt Needle
  • Stitch Markers
  • Tape Measure

Measurements:

  • Diameter: ~5.5 inches
  • Height (including handle): ~6.5 inches
  • Depth: ~7 inches
  • Circumference: ~23 inches
  • Handle Hole: ~1 inch

Pattern:

Round 1:

  • Start with a slip knot, chain 2.
  • Make 6 single crochets (sc) in the first chain.
  • Join with a slip stitch to the first sc (you can place a marker to help locate the join).

Round 2:

  • Chain 1, make 2 sc in the same stitch.
  • Add a marker (optional), then 2 sc in each stitch around.
  • You should have 12 sc at the end of this round.
  • Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.

After Round 3:

  • Repeat the pattern from Round 2.
  • After completing this round, you will have 24 sc.

Round 4:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the first stitch.
  • 1 sc in the next two stitches, then 2 sc in the following stitch.
  • Repeat this pattern (2 sc, 1 sc in the next two stitches) around.
  • End with 32 sc, join with a slip stitch.

Round 5:

  • Chain 1, sc in each stitch around.
  • Maintain 32 sc as in Round 4.
  • Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.

For Round 6:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the first stitch, sc in the next three stitches.
  • Repeat (2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in the next three stitches) around.
  • End with 40 sc, join with a slip stitch.

Round 7:

  • Chain 1, sc in each stitch around without increasing.
  • Should still have 40 sc.
  • Join with a slip stitch.

Round 8:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the first stitch.
  • Then sc in the next four stitches.
  • Repeat (2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in the next four stitches) around.
  • End with 48 sc, join with a slip stitch.

For Round 9:

  • Chain 1, sc in each stitch around, maintaining 48 sc.
  • Join with a slip stitch.

Round 10:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the first stitch, then sc in the next five stitches.
  • Repeat pattern around to end with 56 sc.
  • Join with a slip stitch.

Round 11 & Round 12:

  • Repeat Round 9, maintaining 56 sc.

After Round 13-16:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the first stitch (increase).
  • Sc in each stitch around until the last stitch, make 2 sc in the last stitch (increase).
  • Each round increases by 4 sc, follow this pattern till round 16.

Round 17 (Decrease to form a cocoon shape):

  • Chain 1, skip the first stitch.
  • Single crochet two stitches together (SC2tog), then sc in the next two stitches.
  • Repeat (SC2tog, 1 sc in the next two stitches) around.
  • Chain 10 to create a handle. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 18:

  • Slip stitch in each stitch around to tighten the rim.
  • Work 12 sc into the chain space of the handle to strengthen and shape it.
  • Join with a slip stitch, and finish off by weaving in the ends.

Finishing Touches:

  • Secure and weave any remaining tails with a blunt needle.

Optional:

  • Create a strap at the base of the handle to reinforce it, using remaining yarn.
