Materials Needed:

  • Yellow and brown yarn
  • A small amount of toy stuffing
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Keychain ring

1

Pattern:

Sunflower Top (Brown Part)

Round 1:

  • Start with a magic ring. Work 6 single crochet (sc) stitches into the magic ring.

Round 2:

  • Increase (2 sc in each stitch around) to have a total of 12 stitches.

After Round 3:

  • 1 sc in the next stitch, increase in the following stitch - repeat around to have a total of 18 stitches.

2

Round 4:

  • 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, increase in the third stitch - repeat around to have a total of 24 stitches.

Rounds 5-7:

  • 1 sc in each stitch around for three rounds, keeping the stitch count at 24.
  • After finishing Round 7, cut the yarn and set the top part aside.

3

Sunflower Bottom (Brown Part)

  • Repeat the same steps as the top part (Rounds 1 to 4), creating another piece identical to the first, but do not cut the yarn after Round 4.

Joining Top and Bottom:

  • Place the two brown parts together, aligning the stitches.
  • Use slip stitches to join the pieces together around the edge. Before completely closing, add the toy stuffing.
  • Finish joining, then fasten off and weave in the ends.

Petals (Yellow Part):

  • Attach yellow yarn to any stitch on the edge of the joined brown parts.
  • Chain 10, then slip stitch in the same stitch. Move to the next stitch and repeat. Continue making petals around the entire sunflower.
  • After the last petal, slip stitch into the base of the first petal, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends.

4

Finishing Steps:

  • Attach the keychain ring to one of the petals or wherever you prefer on the sunflower.
  • That’s it! You've now created a cute sunflower keychain. You can adjust the pattern by changing the size of the hook or yarn for larger or smaller versions. Enjoy your crafting!
