  • Red, black, purple (or any color of your choice for the iris), and white yarn
  • Toy stuffing
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Step by step Pattern

Starting with the pupil:

Round 1:

  • Start with black yarn. Make a magic ring and work 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring. Slip stitch to close the ring if needed.

1 Save

Iris:

Round 2:

  • Change to your chosen iris color (e.g., purple). Work an increase in each stitch around (2 sc in each sc from the previous round). You will have 12 stitches.

2 Save

Round 3:

  • 1 sc in the next stitch, then increase in the following stitch (repeat around). You will have 18 stitches.

Eye White:

For Round 4:

  • Change to white yarn. 2 sc in the next two stitches, then increase in the following stitch (repeat around). You will have 24 stitches.

Round 5:

  • 3 sc in the next three stitches, then increase in the following stitch (repeat around). You will have 30 stitches.

Round 6-9:

  • Work 1 sc in each stitch around for four rounds (30 stitches each round).

3 Save

Decreasing for Eye Shaping:

After Round 10:

  • 3 sc, then decrease by working the next two stitches together (repeat around). You will have 24 stitches.

Round 11:

  • 2 sc, then decrease (repeat around). You will have 18 stitches.

Round 12:

  • 1 sc, then decrease (repeat around). You will have 12 stitches.

Finishing:

  • Add toy stuffing to the eyeball to the desired firmness.

4 Save

Round 13:

  • Decrease around until you have 6 stitches left. Close the hole, secure your yarn, and weave in the ends.

Veins:

  • Using red yarn, separate it to get a thinner strand for a more delicate effect. Create veins by stitching radially from the pupil area outward towards the white. You can randomly stitch in different directions to mimic the look of blood vessels.
  • Secure and weave in all loose ends.
