Easy Knit Apples Pattern

Easy Knit Apples Pattern Save

Create delightful knitted apples, perfect for decorations, gifts, or playful toys. This versatile pattern offers options to make a classic apple, a caramel apple, and a chocolate caramel apple, each with charming details and textured finishes.

Materials Needed:

  • 22 needle Centro circular knitting machine (upgraded with compatible gears recommended)
  • Big Twist yarn or similar in desired apple colors (Red for the apple, caramel and chocolate colors for the toppings)
  • Polyfill stuffing
  • Felt for leaves and embellishments
  • Tacky glue (optional for attaching the felt decorations)
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

Basic Apple:

Setup: Without waste yarn, start by casting on with a standard back-and-forth method. This eases the drawstring closure later.

  1. Knitting: Do 50 rounds on the machine. The project is doubled, similar to knitting a beanie, providing a seamless finish when one end is tucked into the other.
  2. Drawstring Middle: After 27 rounds, lay a new yarn string across the stitches to incorporate it into the knitting. This string will serve as a drawstring at the middle, segmenting the apple.
  3. Closing: Continue until 50 rounds are completed. Perform a long-tail cast off, ensuring enough yarn is left to thread through the stitches for closing.
  4. Finishing: Close both the bottom and top ends using the drawstring method. Add polyfill stuffing before fully closing. Adjust the stuffing amount to ensure the shape resembles an apple.
  5. Details: For the stem, use a piece of felt rolled and glued (and optionally stitched for added security). Insert this into the top center of the apple, securing with additional stitches if necessary.

Caramel Apple:

Base: Follow the basic apple pattern for the initial 8 rounds using red yarn.

  1. Color Change: Switch to caramel-colored yarn. Continue knitting until you reach 27 rounds in total, then include the middle drawstring as with the basic apple.
  2. Finish: Complete 50 rounds, fill with polyfill, and use the drawstring closure. The larger end should resemble a caramel drip. Craft this shape using a stitch across the caramel section to create a "puddled" effect.

Chocolate Caramel Apple:

The process is analogous to the caramel apple, substituting the caramel yarn with chocolate yarn after the red base. Follow the same steps for a delightful variation.

Additional Ideas:

  • Get creative with colors, making green apples, poisoned apples, or even fantasy-colored apples.
  • Embellishments such as leaves and stems can be made from felt and attached with glue or stitches.
  • Consider making apples with expressions by adding small felt pieces for facial features.

Presentation Tips:

For a realistic candy apple look, simulate a parchment paper square with felt under the apple. This not only adds to the aesthetic but also provides a stable base for display purposes.

Enjoy creating a beautiful assortment of knitted apples for festive decorations, playful toys, or unique gifts.
