Crochet Hot Chili Pepper Pattern Save

Materials:

  • Dark green and red yarn
  • A little bit of toy stuffing
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Keychain ring

1 Save

Pattern:

Red Chili Part:

Round 1:

  • Start with red yarn, make a magic ring, and work 4 single crochet (sc) stitches into the ring. Close the ring tightly.

Round 2:

  • [Single crochet (sc), increase (inc)] repeat 2 times. By the end, you should have 6 stitches.

2 Save

In Round 3:

  • Inc in the first stitch, then sc in the next 5 stitches. You'll have 7 stitches at the end of this round.

Round 4:

  • Inc in the first stitch, then sc in the next 6 stitches. This leaves you with 8 stitches.

Round 5:

  • Inc in the first stitch, then sc in the next 7 stitches. Now, you'll have 9 stitches.

For Round 6:

  • Inc in the first, then sc in the next 8 stitches for a total of 10 stitches.

3 Save

After Round 7:

  • Start with an increase, then sc in the next 9 stitches. You should have 11 stitches by the end.

Round 8:

  • Increase, followed by 10 sc. This increases your stitch count to 12.

Rounds 9 to 16:

  • Sc in each stitch around for eight rounds, maintaining 12 stitches.

Switch to Green Yarn for the Stem:

After Round 17:

  • Change to dark green yarn and sc around, which should give you a total of 12 stitches.

Round 18:

  • [Two sc, decrease (dec)] repeat 3 times. You'll have 9 stitches at the end.

Round 19:

  • [Sc, dec] repeat 3 times for a total of 6 stitches.
  • Add a bit more toy stuffing to shape the chili, then cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use the tail to close the opening by threading it through the front loops of the 6 remaining stitches and pulling tight. Secure and weave in the end.

Creating the Keychain Loop:

  • Use the dark green yarn to create a loop at the top of the chili. Attach the keychain ring.

4 Save

Finishing Touches:

  • Add some definition and details by sewing through the chili pepper with a piece of the dark green yarn to mimic the natural lines and curves of a real pepper. Hide all yarn ends inside the pepper.
