Free Crochet Ghosts Pattern Step By Step

These little ghosts are designed to look super cute, with a solid and slightly wavy base that mimics their feet, giving them a bit of character. MATERIALS

  • Crochet hook size 2.5 mm
  • Scissors and needle
  • Teddybear stuffing
  • Piece of cardboard
  • 8/4 cotton yarn: I have used Drops Safran white (uni color 17)

ABBREVIATIONS

  • Ch - Chain
  • Sc - Single crochet
  • Hdc - Half double crochet
  • Dc - Double crochet
  • Inc - Increase: Two stitches in the same loop
  • ** - Repeat the sequence

GHOST BODY - TOP

  • 1.round: Start with 6 sc in magic ring
  • 2.round: *1 increase* x 6 (12)
  • 3.round: *1 sc, 1 increase* x 6 (18)
  • 4.round: *2 sc, 1 increase* x 6 (24)
  • 5.round: *3 sc, 1 increase* x 6 (30).
  • 6.round: *4 sc, 1 increase* x 6 (36)
  • 7.-19.round: *1 sc in each stitch* (36) - 13 rounds.
  • 20.round: *3 hdc in the same stitch, 1 sc* x 18.

Fasten off. If you wish to make a taller ghost you can add rounds of sc between round 19 and 20.

GHOST BODY - BOTTOM

All rounds are joined with a slip stitch. Start every round by chaining two.

  • 1.round: Start with 12 dc in magic ring
  • 2.round: *1 dc increase* x 12 (24)
  • 3.round: *1 hdc, 1 increase* x 12 (36). Fasten off.

BOW - OPTIONAL

  • 1.row: Chain 7 and make 6 sc starting in the second loop from the hook.
  • 2.row: *1 sc in each stitch* (6)
  • 3.row: *1 sc in each stitch* (6)

Fasten off and tie a piece of yarn around the middle to give it the bow shape.

ASSEMBLING

  • Place the safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11, with 4-5 stitches between. Sew on the bow if you wish.
  • Cut a round piece of cardboard and glue it to the wrong side of the ghost bottom.
  • Fill the ghost with teddybear stuffing and sew the top and bottom together.
  • Sew between the last round of single crochets on the top and the edge on the bottom.
