  • Magic ring
  • Slip stitch
  • Chain
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Single crochet increase (inc)

Keychain Pattern:

Magic Ring:

  • Make a magic ring with your yarn.
  • Secure the magic ring by inserting the crochet hook, yarning over, and pulling through to make a slip stitch.

1 Save

Row 1: Base Circle:

  • Within the magic ring, make 6 single crochet (sc) stitches.
  • Insert a stitch marker into the first stitch for tracking.
  • Tie up the magic ring by pulling the shorter yarn to tighten the six stitches.
  • Complete Row 1 with a slip stitch to join the round.

Row 2: Increase Round:

  • Begin Row 2 with a slip stitch and chain 1 to build height (sometimes not counting as the first stitch).
  • Increase by making 2 sc into each stitch around (12 stitches total).
  • Insert the stitch marker into the first stitch of the new round.

2 Save

After Row 3: Alternate Increase Round:

  • Chain 1 to start Row 3.
  • 1 sc into the next stitch, 2 sc (inc) into the following stitch.
  • Repeat the sequence from to around (18 stitches total).
  • Complete with a slip stitch to join the round.

Row 4: Increase Sequence:

Follow the pattern:

  • 1 sc, then 1 sc inc. This should be repeated six times throughout the round.
  • Complete Row 4 with a slip stitch and chain 1.

3 Save

Row 5: Further Increases:

  • Continue increasing by following this sequence throughout the round: sc, sc, sc, inc (3 sc and then 2 sc in the same stitch).
  • Complete Row 5 with a slip stitch and then chain 1.
  • Cut the yarn and weave in the end for a neat finish.

Face Details:

  • Using the different colored yarn, create the face details (such as eyes, mouth, etc.).
  • Sew these details onto one of the flat circle pieces.

4 Save

Finishing:
