Thread and Cast On:

  • Thread a long tail of yarn through the inside of the machine.
  • Cast on your stitches carefully until the entire row is complete.

Begin Knitting:

  • Reset the row counter to zero after casting on.
  • Thread the yarn through the needle guide.
  • Knit 40 rows at a steady pace, starting slow to ensure a loose cast-on, which is preferred for the Addi 22.

Removing from Machine:

Finish Knitting:

  • Check the row count to ensure you are at row 40.
  • Slowly rotate the machine, pulling a significant tail of yarn for finishing work.
  • Begin to carefully remove the knitting from the machine, ensuring you do not drop any stitches. Use your index finger to stabilize the yarn as you pull it off near each pin.

Finishing Touches:

Prepare the Ends:

  • Stretch out the knitted piece to ensure everything looks even and well-knitted.
  • Cinch and secure both ends, then tie off.

Crochet the Edges:

  • Using a crochet hook, start on one side: chain six, then join with a slip stitch to form a loop.
  • Chain two, turn your work, and crochet back along the chain with a combination of double crochets and single crochets for a neat edge.

Save

Create a Button Loop:

  • Chain 18 on the opposite side for the button loop (adjust the number of chains based on desired length).
  • Test the loop by placing the cozy on your mug to ensure a good fit. Adjust if necessary.
  • Secure the chain loop to the body of the cozy.

Final Assembly:

  • Attach a button opposite the button loop.
  • Secure the button with yarn, ensuring it's tight and well fastened.
  • Place the mug cozy on the mug to check for the final placement and fit.

Additional Tips:

  • This pattern is ideal for a standard 12-ounce coffee mug but can be adjusted for different sizes by increasing or decreasing rows and the button loop length.
  • Use scrap yarn balls for an eclectic look or specific colors to match your style.
  • Experiment with various textures and weights of yarn to find the best result for your cozy.
