With just a hook and some yarn, you'll whip up the coolest, most personalized home for your stationery stash and crochet hooks.

Crochet Hook Case Pattern Save

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn in various colors
  • Crochet hook appropriate for the yarn size
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Button
  • Optional: Glue for attaching cherries

Base of the Stationery Case:

Start :

  • with making a slip knot. Wrap the yarn around your two fingers, pull the yarn through the loop, insert your hook, and adjust the loop size by pulling the yarn.

Chain 32 :

  • Or until you reach 6 inches in length. Add two more chains to start row 1.

Row 1:

  • Skip the first two chains. Into the third chain, make a double crochet. Continue making one double crochet in each chain across. You should have a piece that's 6 inches long.

Row 2:

  • Chain 2 (counts as the first double crochet), turn your work, and make a double crochet in each stitch across.

Repeat Row 2:

  • until the piece measures 9 inches in width.

Edge:

  • Chain one for height, insert your hook into a side stitch, and make a single crochet. Continue making single crochets all around the rectangle. When reaching the start, make a slip stitch into the first single crochet made.

Decorative Scallop Edge:

  • Attach a new color yarn with a slip knot wherever you like.
  • Chain 1, make a single crochet in the same stitch.

Scallop Pattern:

  • Skip one stitch, make five double crochets in the next stitch, skip one stitch, and then make a single crochet. Repeat this pattern around.
  • Finish by making a slip stitch into the first single crochet, chain one, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends.

Mini Pockets:

Letter Pocket:

  • Chain 20, skip two (counts as the first double crochet), and make 18 double crochets. Repeat for four rows. Create a top part with a space for a heart-shaped hole if desired.

Heart:

  • Use a magic ring and follow the instructions for creating a small heart. Sew or glue this to the pocket.

Cake Pocket:

  • Start with chaining 20, then make 18 double crochets, changing colors as described to create the cake layers and topping. Add slip stitch scallops for icing and sew or glue on cherries.

Bow Pocket:

  • Chain 24, make 22 double crochets. Repeat double crochets for 10 rows, then decorate with a glued-on bow made from pink threads.

4 Save

Assembly:

  • Fold the base in half, placing stitch markers in the middle to position the pockets.
  • Sew on each pocket as instructed, ensuring you secure your thread and weave in the ends.
  • For a closure, you can create a loop with 10 chains attached to one side and sew a button on the opposite side, making sure the loop can go over the button, securing the case.
