Crochet Double Bag
Materials Needed:
- 500 grams of 4mm nautical polyester thread in blue and ecru
- Crochet hook size 4.5
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Lighter
- Magnet button or another type of clasp
- Claw clasp
- Two 2.5 cm carabiner rings
Base of the Bag:
- Start with creating an initial knot and make a total of 26 chains.
- The initial chain should be about 19.5 cm.
- Work on the back part of the chain (loops behind the chain).
- Skip the first loop and start making single crochets in the second loop.
- Continue until you have 25 double crochets at the end of the first row, then make a chain, turn the piece, and continue doing single crochets.
- Complete a total of 19 rows, with the piece measuring 15.5 cm in height and 21.5 cm in width.
Creating the Fold:
- At the end of the 19 rows, work by passing the needle through the middle of the base stitch, taking only the outside strand.
- Make 25 double crochets this way for one row.
Continue with the Second Side:
- Make a chain and start making normal single crochets as shown in the video.
- Complete a total of 26 rows, which is the second part of the bag.
Finish the First Part:
- Work by pulling the final loop of the last row through the entire piece, as demonstrated in the video, to avoid cutting the thread.
Second Thread (Ecru):
- Attach the ecru thread to the opposite side of where the blue thread ended.
- Follow the same process of passing the needle through the middle of each base stitch.
- Make 26 rows of single crochets.
Second Fold:
- Make the same fold as done on the blue part, passing the needle through the middle of the base stitch, making 25 single crochets.
Final Edge Work:
- Work around the edge of the bag using slip stitch and chain, following the crab stitch or relief stitch pattern.
- Sew the sides of the bag by aligning the ends and attaching with the stitch pattern.
Finishing Touches and Accessories:
- Make the bag lid by counting 4 rows down from the top and starting to single crochet onto those loops for a total of 7 rows.
- Decrease each row by making one decrease stitch at the beginning and end of the row for 4 rows.
- Attach the desired clasps, carabiner rings, and accessories as demonstrated.
- Optionally, add a chain for the strap that can be worn short or long.
