Materials Needed:

  • White Yarn
  • 2.5 mm Crochet Hook
  • Stitch Marker
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Pins for marking
  • Different colored yarns for details (e.g., green for the leaf, etc.)

1 Save

Body Pattern:

Start with a Magic Ring.

R1:

  • 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring.

R2:

  • Increase (inc) in each stitch around (12 sc).

In R3:

  • 1 sc, then inc repeat around (18 sc).

R4:

  • 1 sc in next 2 stitches, then inc repeat around (24 sc).

2 Save

R5:

  • 3 sc, then inc repeat around (30 sc).

For R6:

  • 2 sc, then inc repeat around (40 sc).

R7:

  • 5 sc, then inc repeat around (48 sc).

R8-R17:

  • 1 sc in each stitch around (42 sc each round).
  • Close each round tightly and mark the last stitch of each round.

3 Save

Decreasing for the body shaping.

R18:

  • 5 sc, then decrease (dec) repeat around.

R19:

  • 2 sc, then dec, 2 sc repeat around.

After R20:

  • 3 sc, then dec repeat around.

R21:

  • 1 sc, then dec, 1 sc repeat.

R22:

  • 1 sc, then dec repeat for five more times.
  • Finish the final round with 6 decreases total.
  • To close, insert the needle into the front loops of the last round, pull tight, and weave in the end.

4 Save

Strawberry Hood Pattern:

Start with a Magic Ring.

R1:

  • 7 sc into magic ring.

R2:

  • Inc in all stitches around (14 sc).
  • Continue increasing in pattern carefully as indicated up till the hood forms and then switch to crocheting in rows to create a flap, eventually adding a chain and turning for shaping.

Hands & Feet:

  • Use chain stitches followed by single crochet and half-double crochet to shape small hands and feet. Attach onto the body.

Leaf Detail:

  • Create a leaf pattern with a magic ring, chaining, and using single, half-double, and double crochets for each leaf strand before attaching it to the top of the hood.

Ears (Optional depending on character):

  • Begin with a magic ring, follow an increasing pattern, and then a series of rounds that include single crochets and increases followed by decreases to shape the ears. Attach them onto the hood or directly onto the head part.

5 Save

Finishing Touches:

  • Add facial features with yarn by embroidering or sewing on details like eyes, nose, mouth, and whiskers.
  • Add any additional embellishments, such as a mini bow for Hello Kitty, by crocheting small pieces and attaching them to the hood or the body.
