Crochet Dragon Amigurumi Pattern For Fantasy Lovers

Crochet Dragon Amigurumi brings the whimsical charm of mythical creatures to life with a hook and some yarn. These cuddly dragons are perfect as playful companions or unique decorations for any space. With each loop and stitch, you can stitch together a colorful friend with its own personality.

Materials Needed:

  • 6mm J hook (crochet hook)
  • 14mm safety eyes (1 pair)
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers
  • Sewing needles (longer ones recommended for bulky yarn)
  • Bernat Blanket Bright yarn in Race Car Red
  • Bernat Blanket yarn in Sun Soaked
  • Worst yarn in yellow (for the dragon's whisker)
  • Stuffing material

Head Pattern

Round 1:

  • Chain 5.
  • Starting from the second chain from the hook, make 1 single crochet. Mark this first stitch.
  • Continue with 3 single crochets in the first chain.
  • Rotate the piece to work on the opposite side of the chain, making 2 single crochets and an increase (total of 10 stitches).

1 Save

Round 2:

  • Rotate work back, increase in the first stitch (2 single crochets in the same stitch), then 2 single crochets.
  • Make 3 increases in the next 3 stitches, 2 single crochets, an increase, then 1 more single crochet (total of 15 stitches).

After Round 3:

  • Start with 2 single crochets.
  • Next, create a half-double crochet bubble stitch in the next stitch (repeat this process for a total of 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all four loops).
  • Then, 3 single crochets.
  • Repeat another bubble stitch, followed by single crochets until you reach the end (total of 15 stitches, forming the dragon's nose).

Follow similar patterns for Rounds 4 to 30:

  • adjusting each round as necessary with increases, decreases, single crochets, and special stitches, such as bubble stitches, to form the dragon's head. Stuff the head lightly before closing.

2 Save

Eyes:

  • Insert the safety eyes between Round 5, approximately 7 stitches apart.

Body Pattern:

  • Continue crocheting in the round according to the pattern provided, varying the stitches (single crochets, increases, decreases) as outlined until Round 26 to shape the body. Remember to stuff the body moderately to maintain shape but avoid overstuffing.

Finishing Touches:

Ears:

  • Start with a magic ring, make 2 single crochets and 3 half-double crochets in the ring, then 2 more single crochets to complete one ear.
  • Repeat the process for the second ear.
  • Sew the ears near the top of the head, underneath the horns.

Legs (Make 4):

  • Start each leg with a magic ring, crochet 7 single crochets into the ring, then follow by single crochet rounds until the desired length is reached.
  • Stuff lightly before attaching to the body.

4 Save

Horns (Make 2):

  • Begin with a magic ring, crochet 5 single crochets into the ring, then follow the pattern with increases and strategic stitches to form the horn.
  • Attach the horns to the top of the head.

Tail:

  • Use chain stitches to create the tail, adjust the size according to your preference, and attach it to the back of the body.

Sideburns:

  • Attach yarn along the side of the head, near the base of the horns, and crochet small chains to create sideburns.

5 Save

Whiskers:

  • Thread yellow yarn through the front of the face for whiskers. Knot and trim as necessary.
  • Additional decorative elements like belly buttons or detailed facial features might be added with creative stitching or additional yarn colors.
