Crochet Chicken Amigurumi Pattern Save

Materials Needed:

  • A 5.5mm crochet hook
  • White yarn for the body
  • Red yarn for the comb
  • Yellow yarn for the beak
  • Stuffing material
  • A yarn needle
  • Black yarn for embroidered eyes or safety eyes

Body (use white yarn):

Start with a magic ring.

  1. Work 8 single crochets (sc) into the magic ring. Close the ring and use a piece of yarn as a stitch marker.
  2. Round 1: Increase (inc) in each stitch around (16 sc total).
  3. Round 2: 1 sc, inc. Repeat around (24 sc total).
  4. Round 3: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, inc. Repeat around (32 sc total).
  5. Round 4-5: 1 sc in each stitch around (32 sc total for each round).
  6. Round 6: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, decrease (dec). Repeat around (24 sc total).
  7. Round 7-8: 1 sc in each stitch around (24 sc total for each round).
  8. Round 9: 1 sc, dec. Repeat around (16 sc total).
  9. Round 10: 1 sc in each stitch around (16 sc total).

Tail:

4 Save

Chain 1, then fold work in half and slip stitch the halves together.

Stuff the chicken firmly before finishing.

Safety Eyes: Place the safety eyes between Rounds 8 and 9, or embroider with black yarn.

Comb (use red yarn):

5 Save

Attach red yarn at the head's top where the comb will start.

  • Chain 3, then do 2 double crochets (dc) at the base of the chain in the same stitch.
  • Slip stitch in the next stitch, then work 3 dc into the slip stitch.
  • Repeat the pattern to create the comb's shape at the top of the head, slip-stitching and working 3 dc as desired.
  • Fasten off, weave in ends.

2 Save

Beak (use yellow yarn):

  • Thread your yarn needle with the yellow yarn.
  • Decide where you want the beak and embroider it by stitching through the same spot several times (three times is suggested).
  • After the last stitch, send the needle through to the back of the chicken to hide the yarn end, and cut it off.

1 Save

Finish the chicken by weaving in all yarn tails, securing your stitching, and shaping it as desired. Remember to add the comb, beak, and eyes symmetrically for a neat appearance.
