Start with Candy Floss yarn:

  • Make a slip knot, then chain 10.
  • Slip stitch into the first chain to form a loop.
  • Use the yarn tail as a marker for the start of the rounds.

Round 1:

  • Single crochet in each chain around (10 stitches).

Round 2:

  • (Single Crochet, Increase) repeat around to increase stitch count from 10 to 15.
  • Fasten off with an invisible finish technique where you insert the hook one stitch to the left of where you fastened off, from back to front, then again from where the yarn tail is coming out.

Donut Bottom

Change to Nougat yarn:

  • Create a slip knot and begin with the stitch to the left of the faux stitch created by the invisible finish on the top part, in the back loops only.

After Round 3:

  • Slip stitch loosely in the back loops only all around to create a straight edge for the color change. This prevents puckering. End slips stitches by considering precision and consistency.

Round 4:

  • Single crochet in the back loops only all around (15 stitches).

Round 5:

  • (Single Crochet, Decrease) repeat five times to bring the stitch count from 15 to 10. Use yarn over for decreases to avoid bulky corners.

Sewing and Finishing Touches:

  • Prepare to sew the icing and donut bottom together, ensuring alignment of the stitches. Use the yarn tails for stuffing if necessary.
  • After sewing, embroider white sprinkles onto the donut icing using embroidery thread.

Tips:

  • Keep your stitches consistent for a cleaner finish.
  • Check your work frequently to ensure correct stitch counts and that the join isn't too tight or loose.
