Crochet Tote Bag
Made with love, crochet tote bags carry your essentials with their durable threads and unique designs. Whether you're out for a casual stroll or need a dependable bag for your daily haul, these crochet totes are a delightful addition to your collection.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn of your choice
- A third color of yarn for the border area
- A 5 mm crochet hook
Crocheting the Bag:
Decide the Bag's Width:
- The example bag had 72 stitches across one big panel. This is the first step in creating the size of your bag.
Shape of the Bag:
- The bag is shaped like a box. Create two panels for the front and back, and then a base to give it the box shape.
Making the Front Panel:
- Crochet a single panel for the front, matching the width of the bag (72 stitches in the example).
- This front panel includes three large pockets. Instead of creating separate pockets, one large panel was made, and then sections were created by weaving yarn of the same color through to create divisions for the pockets.
Side Pockets:
- The side pockets require a different approach due to the boxy shape providing more indent. These are created to match the width of the side panels.
- Attach the pockets by folding and joining them from the inside, ensuring a seamless look.
Attaching Pieces Together:
- Seam together the main front panel, the side panel, and the pocket for the water bottle, ensuring that all four pieces are combined smoothly.
Strap Creation:
- The strap was made in a unique design, starting from one side of the bag and ensuring a seamless integration with the bag's body.
- Use a combination of two colors for the strap, planning your stitches so that the colors change neatly.
Additional Accessories:
- Create accessory holders by ensuring they are symmetrical and weave them into the bag using a needle and the yarn thread for a clean finish.
Care Instructions:
- The tote bag is washing machine friendly but avoid high heat in both washing and drying cycles to prevent fraying.
