Easy To Make Crochet Mothman Amigurumi Pattern For Spooky Décor & Gift

Imagine making a cute little Mothman amigurumi with your own hands using crochet! This project brings to life a whimsical creature in yarn form, perfect for both fans of folklore and crochet lovers. With a simple hook and some yarn, you'll stitch together an adorable Mothman, complete with detailed wings, curious eyes, and tiny little feet.

Crochet Mothman Amigurumi Pattern Save

Materials:

  • Worsted weight black yarn
  • 3.25 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing

Pattern Steps

1 Save

Leg:

  • (Round 1) Start by placing 6 single crochet into a magic loop.
  • (Round 2) Increase 6 times for a total of 12 stitches.

Toes:

  • Single crochet 1.
  • Create a 3 double crochet cluster (a bobble or cluster stitch).
  • Repeat for three toes.
  • Single crochet 6.
  • Single crochet for 5 rounds plain.

2 Save

Decrease for Leg:

  • (Round 8) Single crochet 4, decrease, single crochet 4 (will reduce to 10 stitches).
  • Single crochet for 2 more rounds plain.
  • Break the yarn on the first leg but not on the second leg.

Join Legs:

  • Single crochet 2 on the second leg.
  • Chain 3 - this will be between the two legs.
  • Single crochet the last 2 stitches from leg 1, single crochet 8 on the leg, single crochet 3 across the chain, single crochet 10 on the other leg, and single crochet 3 across the other side of the chain (total of 26 stitches).

3 Save

Body:

  • Stuff the legs.
  • Single crochet for 6 rounds.
  • (Round 18) Start decreasing: single crochet 6, decrease, single crochet 12, decrease, and single crochet 4 (will end with 24 stitches).
  • Continue decreasing pattern for 4 more rounds.
  • Single crochet for 3 rounds until you have 18 stitches.

Neck and Head:

  • Stuff the body.
  • More decrease rounds until you have 12 stitches.
  • Start head: Single crochet increase all the way around up to 18 stitches.
  • Continue increasing for the head in the following rounds to get the desired number of stitches, following this sequence: single crochet 2 (Round 2), single crochet 3 (Round 3), and so on, until you reach 48 stitches.
  • Single crochet around for one round (Round 7).

4 Save

Decrease for Head:

  • Start reducing the number of stitches per round going in reverse of the previous increasing sequence (single crochet 6 and decrease to single crochet 2 and decrease), eventually decreasing to 6 stitches.

Arms:

  • Start with a magic loop of 6 single crochet.
  • Follow the transcript for the arm pattern, including clusters for fingers and decreases.

Antennas, Eyes, and Cowl:

  • Follow the instructions in the transcript to create the antennas with prongs, eyes (using red worsted weight yarn and increasing in magic loop), and the cowl (which wraps around the neck).

Wings:

  • Create top and lower wings separately, then join as per instructions in the transcript.
  • Pay close attention to the instructions for turning, increasing, decreasing, and creating chains that bridge gaps for shape.

Assembly:

  • Sew all the different parts together as indicated - arms, cowl, antennas, eyes, and wings.
  • Add details such as eye highlights.
