  • Crochet hooks:
  • 3 mm for size 0-6 months
  • 3.5 mm for size 6-12 months
  • 4 mm for size 1-3 years

Pattern:

Start:

  • Create a slip knot.
  • Chain 3.
  • Make 10 double crochets into the first chain. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 1:

  • Start by chaining 2.
  • Make 2 double crochets in each stitch around (total 20 stitches).
  • Join with a slip stitch.

Round 2:

  • Chain 2.
  • Pattern: 2 double crochets in the first stitch, 1 double crochet in the next.
  • Repeat this pattern around, ending with 30 stitches. Join with a slip stitch.

In Round 3:

  • Chain 2.
  • Pattern: 2 double crochets in the first stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next two stitches.
  • Repeat around to make 40 stitches. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 4:

  • Chain 2.
  • Pattern: 2 double crochets in the first stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next three stitches.
  • Continue around for a total of 50 stitches. Join with a slip stitch.

Transition to Rows:

  • Chain 1, make a single crochet in the first stitch.
  • Skip 2 stitches, then make 5 double crochets.

Row 1 of Shells:

  • Leave a gap for the neck by skipping 6 stitches at the end of the row.

  • Repeat this sequence around.

Row 2 of Shells:
