Crochet Amigurumi Gnome Ornament For Christmas Time Decor

These delightful little gnomes add a whimsical touch to any holiday decor, and they're perfect for hanging on your Christmas tree. With just a few basic stitches and some simple materials, you can whip up a cute gnome that everyone will adore.

Materials Needed:

Yarn:

  • Baby Snug yarn in pink (for the hat) and soft sand (for the body and nose). Medium weight yarn in white (for the beard).

Crochet Hooks:

  • 5.5 mm (for the body and hat), 4 mm (for the hat brim).

Others:

  • Scissors, fabric pins, stitch marker, ribbon (for hanging), fiber fill, darning needle, and a brush with metal bristles (for beard).

Gnome Body & Hat Pattern :

Round 1:

  • Start with 'soft sand' colored yarn. Create a magic ring and place 6 single crochets (sc) into it. Close the ring.

Round 2:

  • Increase round - Place 2 sc in each stitch around. You should end up with 12 stitches.

1 Save

After Round 3:

  • Single crochet in one stitch and increase in the next. Repeat this around for a total of 18 stitches.

Rounds 4-7:

  • Single crochet 18 around for four rounds.

Round 8:

  • Change to pink yarn for the hat. Single crochet 18 around with the new color.

For Round 9:

  • Single crochet in the next seven stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 16 stitches.

Round 10:

  • Single crochet 16 around.

2 Save

Round 11:

  • Single crochet in the next six stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 14 stitches.

In Round 12:

  • Single crochet 14 around.

Round 13:

  • Single crochet in the next five stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 12 stitches.

Round 14:

  • Single crochet 12 around. Begin to stuff the body around this point.

In Round 15:

  • Single crochet in the next four stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 10 stitches.

Round 16:

  • Single crochet 10 around. Continue stuffing as needed.

3 Save

Round 17:

  • Single crochet in the next three stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 8 stitches.

For Round 18:

  • Single crochet 8 around. Finish stuffing.

Round 19:

  • Single crochet in the next two stitches, then decrease. Repeat once more for a total of 6 stitches. Finish off, weaving in ends.

Hat Brim:

  • Work directly into round 8 of the body, using the 4 mm hook and pink yarn:
  • Place a slip knot on your hook, identify the point of color change, and begin there to maintain the pattern cleanly.
  • Single crochet in each of the 18 stitches from round 8 with the new color.
  • Switch back to the 5.5 mm hook. Do an increase round: Single crochet in the next two stitches, then perform an increase. Repeat around.
  • Continue with rounds, gradually increasing as described in the video until the brim is complete. Finish off.

4 Save

Nose:

  • Using 'soft sand' yarn:
  • Start with a magic ring.

Round 1:

  • Place 6 sc into the ring.

Round 2:

  • Single crochet in the next two stitches, then increase. Repeat for 8 stitches.

After Round 3:

  • Single crochet 8 around.

5 Save

Round 4:

  • Single crochet in the next two stitches, then decrease. Repeat. Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Beard:

  • Using medium weight white yarn, wrap around 20 times (adjust for fuller beard), cut, and tie as individual strands around the face area.
  • Use a metal-bristled brush to fluff out the yarn ends to look like a beard.

Assembly:

  • Sew the nose directly below the hat brim.
  • Attach the beard around the nose by tying the yarn strands securely and then fluffing them out.
  • Weave in all loose ends securely.
  • Attach a ribbon loop to the top for hanging.
