Pattern:

1 Save

Magic Ring Start:

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Chain 2 (this acts as your first double crochet).
  • Make 16 double crochets into the magic ring.
  • Pull the ring tight and join to the first double crochet with a slip stitch.

Round 1:

  • You will have 16 double crochets.

2 Save

Round 2: (Increase Round)

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Make an increase (two double crochets) in each stitch around.
  • You will have 32 double crochets in total.

After Round 3:

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Alternate between one double crochet and one increase in the front loop only of each stitch around.
  • You will repeat this pattern 16 times.

3 Save

Round 4:

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Make one increase and then five double crochets in the front loop only.
  • Repeat this pattern 8 times.

Rounds 5, 6, & 7:

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Make 56 double crochets in the front loop only for each round.

4 Save

For Round 8: (Decrease Round)

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Make a decrease (combining two stitches into one) followed by five double crochets in the front loops only.
  • Repeat this pattern 8 times.

Round 9:

  • Chain 2 for a standing stitch.
  • One decrease followed by six double crochets in the front loops only.
  • Repeat this pattern six times.

Round 10:

  • Chain 2 for a standing stitch.
  • One decrease followed by five double crochets in the front loops only.
  • Repeat six times.

In Round 11:

  • Start with single crochets on the whole stitch.
  • Chain 1 as a standing stitch.
  • Make four single crochets, chain two, skip two stitches, and repeat six times.

5 a Save

Round 12:

  • Chain 2 as a standing stitch.
  • Make 36 double crochets in the front loop only.

Round 13:

  • Chain 2.
  • One increased double crochet followed by two double crochets in the front loops only, repeated 12 times.

For Round 14:

  • Chain 1 as the standing stitch.
  • Make 48 single crochets on the whole stitch.
  • Chain 1 to end and pull out the yarn a bit.

Star Pattern:

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Make 15 double crochets in the ring.
  • Create the star points by chaining 5, then single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet to shape each point. Skip stitches as necessary to form the star.
  • Keep repeating until you have five points.

String and Assembly:

  • Create a chain stitch rope to your desired length.
  • Use a yarn needle to attach the rope and star to the bag.
  • You may also choose to attach the star with hot glue for an alternative method.
